I've posted frequently about the state of Local Authority finance, and plans to reform its taxation system - and I've been pretty clear that I believe the current plans for a so-called 'local' Income Tax are unworkable and should be replaced by a sensible alternative ...
... so very interesting to see that some of today's papers are basically flagging up that the current plans are about to be dropped!
If these reports are true, then I'd welcome it - John Swinney now needs to have the good grace to frankly admit that the initial proposals were a mess.
... I'll reserve judgement on what replaces that mess, until the full details are published by the Government.
